Life's Confusion

September 13, 2026/3 min read

Here's the thing nobody wants to hear: you don't see your own life clearly. Nobody does. We walk around convinced we've got the full picture, that somewhere behind the eyes there's a clean, well-lit room where the truth lives and we can just wander in whenever we like. That's a lie. A comfortable one, sure. But a lie.

I've watched smart people, talented people, people with real instincts, drive their lives straight into the wall while telling everyone in the car that the road looked fine. Proverbs 16:25 has a line for this, and it's brutal: there's a way that looks right, and it ends in death. Not "ends in a rough patch." Death. The road looked good. The map was wrong. That's the whole story of most of us.

Your best judgment, left alone with itself, will eventually do something that poisons you. Even your sharpest read on a situation is shot through with things you got wrong and don't know you got wrong. Your clearest vision is still fogged glass. You just can't tell, because it's the only glass you've ever looked through.

So you need something from outside. That's what the rest of that chapter is getting at. You need God to turn the lights on, show you what's actually in your life, and walk you out of the confusion you didn't even know you were standing in. Not because you're stupid. Because you're human, and human is not enough. Wholeness, life, the real thing: it comes from Him, or it doesn't come.
