I'm Joey Chen. I write here about scripture and the parts of faith that happen on weekdays — the ones that don't make it into sermons because they're too small, too slow, or too unresolved.
This isn't a ministry and it isn't a platform. It's closer to a notebook I left open. I'm not a pastor or a scholar. I'm someone who has read the same passages for twenty years and keeps finding that they've moved.
Why the name
Before it was a religion it was called the Way, and before that it was mostly people walking somewhere together without a clear map. The plural is deliberate. There is one road, but a lot of ways of being on it, and I've stopped assuming mine is the definitive one.
What you'll find here
Essays, mostly. Some short, some long. No courses, no cohort, no funnel. If something I write is useful to you, that's a good week.

I answer email slowly but I do answer it. If you'd rather have new posts arrive on their own, the subscribe page is the whole of my marketing strategy.
