What My Grandmother Knew

My grandmother's theology fit in a noodle dish.
The kind of knowing that doesn't argue
She never used the word incarnation in her life. But she understood that showing up in a body, at an inconvenient hour, with food, is most of what love turns out to require.
James 2:15–16 asks what good it does to wish someone well while they're hungry. She had answered that question a hundred times before I got around to reading it.
(More to come on this one — I want to get it right.)
